Job Description

Footwear News is seeking an editorial intern for the Summer 2019 semester in its New York headquarters. This internship offers hands-on experience and shadowing professionals at a reputable and fast-paced industry-leading publication. Interns will learn from and get practical learning experiences with the high-level journalism professionals behind this publication, focused on the business of shoes, pop culture and celebrities — and the intersection of all three. This internship is best suited to students with an understanding and passion for journalism — both online and print.

For this position, interns will have the opportunity to hone their journalism skills and build a portfolio of bylined clips, all the while learning about the entire editorial cycle for a publication. The tasks and activities of this internship are designed to enrich the intern with valuable skills transferable to the intern’s future career.

During their internship, the student will pitch, write and post 1 to 2 web stories per week and 1 to 2 print stories about a variety of topics related to the footwear industry. There is also the opportunity to cover events.

Please note that this is an unpaid 20 hours/week internship position for college credit only.

The unpaid internship (for college credit) will run for 12 weeks, starting June 4, 2019.
