Job description

The right candidate will have the opportunity to work in a creative, fast-paced environment with award-winning health and medical journalists. Editorial interns will research and develop story pitches for publication, gain experience interviewing health experts and representatives, learn how to identify journal articles for use in stories, engage with our audience on social media, and gain insights into SEO best-practices and how to build a knowledge network on the Internet. While this paid internship is based in our lower Manhattan offices, the company will work around the right candidate’s schedule, recognizing that education comes first. At the end of the internship, the successful candidate will have earned reporting credit and bylines.
Internship duties:
- Pitch story ideas on health topics including nutrition, fitness, wellness, heart health, diabetes, cancer, multiple sclerosis, and sleep
- Assist with social media
- Promote stories to PR representatives and bloggers
- Assist with research and fact checking
- Develop strategies to build our online knowledge network
- Support the overall production needs of the website
What we look for:
- A keen instinct for news and storytelling
- Strong writing, editing
and fact-checking skills - Interest in and knowledge of digital media
