Prof. Tami Gold and IMA student David Pavlosky’s screening

PUZZLES: When Hate Came to Town

In PUZZLES, a film by Tami Gold & David Pavlosky, a brutal attack in a gay and lesbian bar provides a window into two very different worlds that suddenly collide: horror-rock fans and small-town drag queens. Most striking in both communities is the palpable need for belonging. PUZZLES charts these groups’ divergent journeys as they respond to the attack, and along the way explores hate, the deep alienation felt by many American youth, and an underlying quality that both worlds share: the abiding need for family.

Following the screening the filmmakers will be present for a discussion.
