Veteran’s Day Reframed will screen two films that follow U.S. military veterans returned from two different wars – the Iraq war and the Vietnam war – suffering from the trauma of their service, and becoming activists and advocates for peace and treatment for veterans. There will be a post-screening discussion with the Filmmakers and Veterans.

IMA student Megan Rossman’s film screening at NewFest in New York City

IMA student Megan Rossman’s award-winning documentary Love Letter Rescue Squad will be screening at the NewFest: the New York City LGBT Film Festival. The film chronicles the origin of the Lesbian Herstory Archives, the world’s largest collection of materials by and about lesbians and their communities.

IMA student Megan Rossman’s screening

IMA student Megan Rossman will be presenting her award-winning short film Love Letter Rescue Squad at the Reeling Film Festival in Chicago.

The short revisits the efforts of Deborah Edel and Joan Nestle who orchestrated the creation of the world’s largest collection of works by and about lesbians. This project, named Lesbian Herstory Archives, emerged as a response to the lack of preservation of lesbian history and grew from the hard work of a small group of women in a tiny New York apartment. After 40 years of dedication, the archive is very much alive as well as the challenges to keep it preserved.
