Emmy Award-Winning Journalist explains the Art of the Interview

One of the most important skills to master as a young journalist is the art of the interview, and students in Prof. Sissel McCarthy’s MEDPL 388 Studio News Production class were eager to hone their skills with tips from award-winning broadcast journalist Jane Hanson in early May.  

Hanson has interviewed thousands of people, including presidents, celebrities, authors, sports figures, and regular people during her 27-year career as an anchor and correspondent for NBC News and its New York affiliate, WNBC.

Ajit’s film, LOVE 77 has been nominated for the LGBTQ Image Award for the 12th Annual CUNY Film Festival!

Ajit Dias was the kind of student who always brought his A-game to the classroom, was never shy to get as much practice as he could, and was ever eager to learn as much as he could in my Techniques of Cinematography class. The film he crafted from a one-sentence story by Julio Cortázar, Love 77, demonstrates not only his ability to create beautiful and evocative images, but also a gift for adapting abstract concepts into compelling, thoughtful narratives
