Congrats to IMA alum Mariano Wainsztein!

Congratulations to IMA alum Mariano Wainsztein! He is the recipient of a LABA: A Laboratory for Jewish Culture Fellowship 2018. Mariano was born in Argentina and raised in Israel. He is a composer and a filmmaker. He has won prestigious awards from Franklin Furnace Archive for performance art in 2000 and from the National Board of Review of Motion Pictures in 2011. Mariano is a community teaching artist at Educational Alliance and is an adjunct professor in the Film and Media Department at Hunter College.

IMA alumna Rikki Gunton’s screening

Personal StatementPersonal Statement, a film that IMA alumna Rikki Gunton helped edit will be premiering at:

Margaret Mead Film Festival at the American Museum of Natural History on Saturday, October 20th at 7pm.

It is a documentary about three high school seniors at underfunded schools in Brooklyn who are working as peer college counselors, while trying to get themselves and their peers into college. The film explores the struggles of low-income students overcoming that prevent them from graduating into college. The film will also have its broadcast premiere on Tuesday, October 23rd at 8pm on PBS.
