IMA alumna Annie Berman’s 2015 film UTOPIA 1.0: Post-Neo-Futurist-Capitalism in 3D! will be exhibited at the RIXC Festival in Riga, Latvia. The twenty-minute film takes place at the abandoned virtual 3D world known as Second Life, where Berman sends her avatar in to investigate the decline of this utopian world.
IMA alumna Meredith Whitfield will be presenting on a panel at Foreign at the Gallery Space at Wagner. Foreign is multimedia project documenting the experiences of refugees and migrants from the Middle East and North Africa arriving in Europe. The panel Foreigner: Photoactivism, Representation, and the Refugee Crises will explore the role of photography in offering counter-narratives to inflammatory and homogenized representations of refugees and the potential for the arts to impact public discourse and policy.
