Father – Figure is a narrative exploring issues of selective memory. The artist’s
childhood memories of her family are illustrated with playful super 8 home movies, as her mother remembers happy family traditions. We learn that what we see on the surface of these seductive images is not all that meets the eye.

This documentary reveals the tradition of lectores, or readers, which was an integral part of the world of Cuban cigar makers from the 1800s to the early 1900s. In Spanish with English subtitles. Shown with Solidarity in Saya: An Afro-Bolivian Music Movement (2009) Directed by Maya Jensen. Bolivia. Through music and very revealing interviews with Afro-Bolivian economist Juan Angola Maconde and others, this documentary explores the little known Afro-Bolivian population.
