Magazine writing class launches 3rd issue of The Bridge magazine

NEW YORK (November 30, 2011) – The students enrolled in the Fall 2011 Magazine Writing class in Hunter College’s Film & Media Department are proud to announce the launch of the third issue of The Bridge magazine – an online publication devoted to exploring the rich diversity cultures and arts on campus, as well as New York City.

This semester’s team worked together on the magazine’s newest addition to the “Hunter Spotlight.” With a focus on health at Hunter, The Bridge writer Jesse Convertino wrote a heartfelt story of a Hunter student’s fight with cancer. Read about how a healthy and active 19-year-old sophomore faced cancer after feeling a sharp pain in his knee. After a successful surgery and long treatment of chemotherapy, the student found himself back in the hospital to see a young high school boy with the same condition – and being treated in the same room.

On the arts side of The Bridge, writer Stephanie Hologounis critiques Rihanna’s new controversial music video for her hit single “We Found Love.” The video, which has been slammed by anti-rape groups, presents the intoxicating passion in an abusive relationship surrounded by a significant use of drugs and alcohol.
