Study News Literacy in London

CUNY students can now study Media 211 News Literacy in a Digital Age in London. The new program will be led by Professor Sissel McCarthy in June 2026.

Professor McCarthy lived in London for seven years as a CNN news anchor and says it’s the perfect destination to learn about journalism and news literacy.

“London is a world class city with so much to offer our students,” said McCarthy. “This program is an incredible opportunity to gain a global perspective into the news industry while learning how to fact-check information like a journalist.”

Students will live and study in central London from June 1-26 and will have the chance to visit four top news outlets like the BBC.

Media 211 fulfills the English Composition II requirement, so all CUNY student can take this course to fulfill their gen ed requirement. It’s also a hybrid course, which features in person labs and asynchronous lectures. That means students can watch the lectures anytime and anywhere on their own schedule.

Financial aid can also be applied depending on the type of aid a student receives.
