New Faculty Position Now Open

The Department of Film and Media Studies is hiring a new professor to join its full-time journalism faculty. This tenure-track role will be at the assistant or associate level, depending on credentials, and focus on narrative and investigative print journalism.

According to the job posting, the ideal candidate will have a significant body of published work and experience as a writer and editor, a demonstrated ability to teach multi-platform journalism and an eagerness to work with students from diverse academic, socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Experience with visual and audio storytelling is essential, while “experience with artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies to support news-gathering, audience engagement and community-connected journalism is preferred.”

The professor will teach 18 assignable hours per year, typically a 3-3 course load. Additional duties may include course curriculum development and assessment, advising and mentoring students, committee work, coordinating journalism program events and managing the journalism program newsletter.
