The journalism program at Hunter College has been approved for the CUNY Inclusive Economy Initiative. CIE, as it’s abbreviated, aims to enhance student career success by fostering relationships with employers and helping students to begin realizing their career goals while still in college.
As part of the 2030 CUNY Lifting New York strategic plan, CIE helps to bridge the CUNY community to the professional world through partnership with industry leaders, on-campus preparation and advising, curriculum integration and alumni engagement.
In May this year, an additional $7 million in funding was added to CIE’s coffers, allowing it to expand to more departments throughout the CUNY system, and builds on the success of programs like CUNY Futures in Finance (FIF), which will be the first finance track of CIE.
In adding the journalism program at Hunter College to the CIE initiative, CUNY will be helping journalism students to start developing their careers while still at Hunter, secure a good position at a competitive salary upon graduation and remain engaged with their academic community as they advance in their fields.
Applications for the full-time faculty advisor position will be accepted until November 12.
