Company Description
Newsday Media Group (NMG) is one of the nation’s most dynamic media organizations, serving Long Island and New York City through its portfolio of mobile and digital products, print publications and live events. The Newsday summer internship program runs for 10 weeks and is designed for college students interested in a media career. We are accepting applications for interns to cover local and breaking news, students interested in working in the opinion section and multimedia journalists. The summer program includes weekly seminars in which participants join with regular Newsday staff members in informal discussions. Since Newsday operates seven days a week, interns can expect their hours to fluctuate.
Internship opportunities include:
Local and breaking news intern: Report and write daily Long Island news stories and news features; contribute to breaking news coverage.
Opinion section intern: Assist editorial staff with researching and writing opinion pieces.
Multimedia intern: Shoot news events and learn Newsday’s editing software system.

- You must be a junior, senior or graduate student enrolled in a degree program as of December 2019.
- At least one previous internship at a daily newspaper, magazine or website.
