On April 2, Pulitzer Prize winner and journalist Stephanie Hanes will join Hunter’s Journalism Program director, Professor Sissel McCarthy, at the Roosevelt House for a conversation. Their discussion will center on how young people are reacting to climate change and the transformations that are occurring as a result.
Hanes is an environmental and climate change writer. She has done environmental reporting in Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe and other places in the US and the Caribbean. She published a book in 2017 titled “White Man’s Game: Saving Animals, Rebuilding Eden and Other Myths of Conservation in Africa.”
Hanes is a regular correspondent for The Christian Science Monitor. Her reporting has ranged from climate change to education and families. Her stories have appeared in The Washington Post, USA Today, The Baltimore Sun and PBS Today, among other outlets. She is also a lecturer at Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies.
This year’s winner of the Pulitzer Fellowship will also be announced at the event.
