About the film:
Hind Rajab, a 5-year-old Palestinian girl, is trapped in a car under heavy Israeli military fire in Gaza, the sole survivor of their brutal assault. Her emergency calls reach the volunteers of the Palestine Red Crescent Society, who desperately attempt to calm and rescue her. But their rescue attempts are repeatedly obstructed by Israeli military gunfire, checkpoints, and delays.

In THE VOICE OF HIND RAJAB, Academy Award®-nominated Tunisian filmmaker Kaouther Ben Hania blends the actual phone recordings—which went viral several weeks after this incident—with dramatizations of the emergency workers as they race against time to coordinate paramedics who could save Hind’s life. By focusing on one life—and the volunteers who risk their lives to save civilians—Ben Hania brings humanity and urgency to a war that has caused the deaths of over 75,200 Palestinians, per a recent Lancet study. [Note: the film was made in partnership and collaboration with Hind’s family and Palestine Red Crescent.]

The film garnered the Silver Lion Prize and a 23-min standing ovation at the 2025 Venice Film Festival; and has been nominated for an Academy Award.
