This night will feature screenings of Laura Waddington’s videos CARGO, BORDER, and her most recent work, STILL, pieces of a larger collective film to protest police violence in France.

IMA student Betty Yu’s installation WORKShifts

After eight weeks of research, six curators from the NLE Lab present their site-specific and community responsive exhibition, Through the Parlor, in a former beauty salon in Chinatown. IMA student Betty Yu’s exhibition Workshifts is an interactive installation that will be apart of the opening reception this Friday the 8th. It will be featured for 5 weeks.

IMA alumna Laurie Sumiye screening in DOCNYC

IMA alumna Laurie Sumiye’s short animated documentary, Of Memory & Los Sures , which she created during her collaborative residency at UnionDocs will be apart of the shorts program called Then & Now at DOCNYC on November 21st. Her short piece is an animated oral history of a traditionally Puerto Rican neighborhood in South Williamsburg that weaves fragments of childhood nostalgia and harsh realities of the past with unique glimpses into a collective memory of a place undergoing rapid changes.
