Street Views awarded Best Experimental Short Film at RIFF

IMA student Annie Berman was awarded Best Experimental Short Film at RIFF, Rome Independent Film Festival for her short, Street Views. Street Views is a documentary that turns to Google’s street view for setting, characters, and storyline.

Street Views will also be screening this Sunday night at Anthology Film Archive at 7:30PM. It will be apart of the Screen Loud Film Festival where five short movies explore the theme of being a ‘foreigner’ searching for a way to express oneself in a new world. The screenings will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and the audience will get to vote for the best movie. The reception is sponsored by Estrella Damm and Freixenet.

Street Views will also be exhibited at the New Currents Media Festival in Santa Fe this June.

The Domino Effect screening at the Cities & Citizenship Conference

IMA alumni Megan Sperry and Daniel Phelps will be screening The Domino Effect at the Cities & Citizenship Conference. The conference is part of the Goethe-Institut’s Weltstadt: Who Creates the City? project, taking place in major cities around the world and culminating in a conference in Berlin in May. The Domino Effect will be opening the conference on Thursday March 13th at 7:00PM with a panel discussion to follow. On the following Saturday, the 15th, Megan Sperry will be conducting her workshop, Community Organizing, Communications and Documentary Filmmaking from 12:00-1:00PM.

IMA student Iva Radivojevic featured in NYWIFT’s panel

IMA student Iva Radivojevic will be featured in NYWIFT’s Pushing the Boundaries: Telling Stories That Defy Catagorization. Pushing the Boundaries will showcase three films that challenge the traditional documentary form by employing narrative or experimental techniques then discuss the definition of documentary, hybrid, narrative and experimental film, the line between documentary and fiction, and the history of experimental and narrative techniques in documentary filmmaking.

The event will be held at NYU Arthur Carter Journalism Institute, 20 Cooper Square, on Wednesday February 26th at 7:00PM
