Shanti Thakur’s experimental-documentary Seven Hours to Burn will screen at A.I.R. Gallery’s 40th Anniversary Show, 40/40: A Double Vision.
The opening reception will be on Thursday, March 7th from 6 – 9pm at 111 Front Street in DUMBO, Brooklyn.
The exhibition will be on view March 7 – 20, 2013.
Founded in 1972, A.I.R. is the first artist-run gallery for women in the United States. This show pairs the work of 20 member artists with the work of 20 invited guest artists.

March 4, 2013 for a talk with Michelle Materre, professor of Media and Film Studies at the New School, film producer, President and Director of Creative Affairs at Autonomous Entertainment a marketing and distribution firm specializing in independent media. She will discuss her career trajectory,works she has produced, and her experience and contribution as a women of color and leader in independent media production and distribution.
IMA student Alex Mallis who worked as a cinematographer and associate producer over the last few years on the film Welcome to Pine Hill took top jury awards at Slamdance, Nashville, Atlanta, and Sarasota. The film will be having its NYC theatrical premiere this Friday at IFC Center.
Synopsis of the film, which A.O. Scott described as “… motivated throughout by a humane and determined curiosity.. a small film devoted to a very big idea.”
