Hunter alum Matthew Perlman, who graduated today from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, has won the 2013 Murray Kempton Award for best news story, for a story he wrote for The Hunts Point Express as a student in Hunter’s Neighborhood News class.

IMA student Iva Radivojevic’s film premiere
IMA student Iva Radivojevic‘s first feature thesis film Evaporating Borders will be premiering at the International Film Festival in Rotterdam. She will also be showing her film at the IMA/MFA Fall 2013 Thesis Show this Saturday the 14th. Iva Radivojevic has launched a Kickstarter to complete her film.

IMA graduate Sam Feder hosted a sneak preview of Kate Bornstein is a Queer and Pleasant Danger at The Wild Project in the East Village. The film focuses Kate Bornstein, who is a performance artist, writer and trailblazing trans elder that lives life as a “gender outlaw” that deconstructs gender and binaries. Not only did Sam Feder want a film about a trans person that was more than just them being trans, yet also a documentary that featured a multi dimensional person and the positive impact the have on the world.
