End of Semester Film Festival

Hunter Student Film and Media Guild will be holding an End of Semester Film Festival and are now taking submissions until December 10th.
The event will be held on December 17th (Fri) at 7pm in the Lang Recital Hall.

The categories of possible submissions are as follows:
Film Production I (FILMP 251), Film Production II (FILMP 352), Cinematography (FILMP381), Portable Video Production (MEDP 281), Documentary Production (MEDP 311), Animation (MEDP 299.25 & MEDP 399.14), and wel also take Works-in-Progress and films shot outside of class as long as they are under 15 minutes.

Two Hunter seniors win Murray Kempton Awards

Two Hunter College seniors have won Murray Kempton Awards for Journalism honoring the contributions of outstanding undergraduate student journalists at CUNY.

Fausto Giovanny Pinto won the award for best feature story for his portrayal of a Pentecostal pastor’s efforts to feed the hungry in his South Bronx neighborhood. The story appeared in The Hunts Point Express, the community newspaper staffed by students in Neighborhood News, an advanced journalism class.

Latest issue of The Hunts Point Express

The latest issue of The Hunts Point Express, the community newspaper staffed by
Hunter students covering the poorest neighborhood in the poorest Congressional
District in the United States, is out.

It includes stories on a parade to celebrate the “heroes” who helped rebuild the
neighborhood; a controversy over a homeless shelter; the rise of prostitution;
an ambitious effort to clean up the East and Bronx rivers; a hidden park; a city
