Journalism students tour Bloomberg

Reporting and Writing 2 students found themselves on the other side of the camera on May 9 on their way to visit media giant Bloomberg. Videographer for Bloomberg’s @TicToc Madison Mills interviewed several of Professor Sissel McCarthy’s students, asking them what they thought about that day’s New York Times opinion piece about breaking up Facebook. After a few vox pops on the sidewalk, students went on a tour of Bloomberg’s headquarters that included a visit to the TV studio control room and the 29th-floor cafeteria with a killer view of Central Park and the Upper East Side.

Prof. Ricardo Miranda’s VR project

Incertidumbre Camaguey

During spring break, Prof. Ricardo Miranda presented his virtual reality project INCERTIDUMBRE – a virtual reality game that investigates the sensibility of dislocation by presenting personal accounts from immigrants to the United States as well as individuals on the wrong side of gentrification.  The project was presented on the streets of Camaguey, Cuba as part of the 8th he International Videoart Festival of Camagüey (FIVAC) – a festival and conference dedicated to national and international video-creation practice.  It is a forum for discussion and debate of the main issues surrounding this artistic expression.
