Professor Shanti Thakur Wins Best Narrative Film Award

Professor Shanti Thakur has won the Best Narrative Film Award at the 60th Columbus International Film Festival
for her short film Red Tulips, A Story About Forgetting, which won over both short and feature length narrative films.

Red Tulips is currently on the festival circuit. Other screenings include: Los Angeles International Short Film Festival, St. Louis International Film Festival, the Mill Valley Film Festival and the Athens International FIlm Festival.

Red Tulips is about a magical world where memory lasts only a few hours. James meets his wife and daughter for the first time, every day. The film was partially funded by a PSC-CUNY Research Award, the George N. Shuster Fellowship and the President’s Fund for Faculty Advancement.

Presentation: A retrospective of Skip Blumberg’s career making short docs such as the triple Emmy-winning Pick Up You Feet: the Double Dutch Show, Flying Morning Glory, and shorts for Sesame Street. The evening includes screening, lecture and Q&A.
