Aronson Awards 2025 guest speaker

The James Aronson Awards is proud to announce we have selected the widely acclaimed journalist, Mohammed Rafik Mhawish, to be the 2025 Guest Speaker at the Annual Journalism Public Forum at Hunter College CUNY. The event will take place some time during the month of April, exact date t.b.a.

Mohammed Rafik Mhawish is an award winning Palestinian writer and journalist whose ground breaking and relentless reporting on the war in Gaza has been internationally recognized. Mohammed speaks with the voice of someone experiencing the war personally—as a devoted father, husband and son—as well as observing it as a journalist. His work has appeared in The Nation, The Economist, Al Jazeera English, MSNBC, and +972 Magazine. (read article here)

The Pulitzer Center is partnering with Hunter College to support Reporting Fellowships on a wide range of issues including public health, the environment, justice, education, refugees, and migration. Mentorship and a $3,000 grant are provided.
