Congrats to journalism student Kadia Goba!

Kodia GobaKudos to our journalism student Kadia Goba on her selection as the second Pulitzer Center fellow from Hunter College.

Kadia will receive a $3,000 fellowship to report on the environmental crisis in Sierra Leone due to mineral excavation and deforestation. Her story will be about a grassroots movement that is using social media to crowdsource funds for seedling projects to plant trees and will be published by the Pulitzer Center upon her return. She will also attend a fellows weekend in the fall in Washington DC to meet other fellows and professional journalists.

She also won the Society of Professional Journalists Deadline Scholarship. This scholarship is awarded to a student who demonstrates the potential to contribute to the highest standards and goals of journalism.

Congratulations Kadia!
