IMA student Betty Yu will be apart of the Asian American Art and Activism event, part of Target First Saturdays, taking place at the Brooklyn Museum on May 3rd from 7:00pm-8:00pm. Artists and activists will lead an interactive dialogue about important political and social issues they’ve addressed in their works. There will be Free Tickets at the Visitor Center at 6:00pm.

Combined Overflow Exhibit’s Opening Reception
IMA alumnae Sarah Nelson Wright and Laura Chipely will be opening their new group exhibit, Combined Overflow which is an exhibition of creative responses to the Newtown Creek and the Gowanus Canal, two New York City waterways with similar histories of industry, pollution and neglect.
Combined Overflow will be exhibited from April 26th to May 24th at Proteus Gowanus, located at 543 Union Street (Nevins Subway Station) in Brooklyn, New York.
The Hunts Point Express featured in The New York Times
Prof. Buddy Stein and the Neighborhood News featured The Hunts Point Express in The New York Times. Eight reporters from The Hunts Point Express discussed issues in the South Bronx with the borough’s district manager of Community Board 2. The reporters were Hunter College Students who held a news conference with Mr. Salamanca at Hunter with an objective to ferret out stories that will inform, connect with and give a voice to residents who might not otherwise have one.
