Documentary film No Dress Code Required, written and directed by IMA alumna Cristina Herrera opens on Friday, November 3rd at Village East Cinema, NYC. The film chronicles the challenges of a gay Mexican couple overcoming a long series of bizarre hurdles and a bureaucratic system to get the rights to marry.

IMA student Megan Rossman’s award-winning documentary Love Letter Rescue Squad will be screening at the NewFest: the New York City LGBT Film Festival. The film chronicles the origin of the Lesbian Herstory Archives, the world’s largest collection of materials by and about lesbians and their communities.

IMA student Megan Rossman will be presenting her award-winning short film Love Letter Rescue Squad at the Reeling Film Festival in Chicago.

The short revisits the efforts of Deborah Edel and Joan Nestle who orchestrated the creation of the world’s largest collection of works by and about lesbians. This project, named Lesbian Herstory Archives, emerged as a response to the lack of preservation of lesbian history and grew from the hard work of a small group of women in a tiny New York apartment. After 40 years of dedication, the archive is very much alive as well as the challenges to keep it preserved.

IMA graduate Seyi Adebanjo’s film, Ọya: Something Happened on the Way to West Africa!, received an Official selection from the Pan African Film Festival (PAFF).

The film is playing during the Pan African Film & Arts Festival as part of the LGBTQ Shorts series at RAVE Cinemas in Los Angeles, CA. from Feb 4th – 15th.
