NFS NSFW NFT is a 3D virtual exhibition produced by members of NEW INC and Rhizome’s Art & Code track. The exhibition is on New Art City, hosting a Zoom opening, minting a NFT on Foundation, and closing with a panel at Hunter College — all, to explore the critical poetics of this particular not-for-sale, not-safe-for-work, and non-fungible-token moment.  The exhibition is composed of three galleries:
The NFS garden is skinned with cryptocurrency symbols and animations. Featuring work from Ricardo Miranda Zúñiga, Mark Ramos, and Bhavik Singh.

The NSFW garden is skinned with community rules and blurred graphics that platforms use to police adult content. Featuring work from Itziar Barrio, Christopher Clary, Nahee Kim, and Pearlyn Lii.
The NFT garden is skinned with graphics that corporations use to illustrate the blockchain. Featuring work from Johanna Flato, Lula Mebrahtu, Yeseul Song, and Ziyang Wu.

IMA alum David Pavlosky’s film Stand Up, Stand Out was selected for the SFQ Festival. The film screens on July 24th. More info here: https://www.sfqueerfilmfest.com/day-three 

Congratulations to IMA students Kiara Holley and Luca Lee, the recipients of this summer’s Whose Land? IMA Fellowships. Luca and Kiara will each receive $5,000 and will be working with Profs. Kelly Anderson and James Levy to identify organizational partners and sites where they can explore histories of land loss, dispossession, and migration through the lens of racial equity, and foster a shared understanding of land justice for the future.

This project is funded by the Ford Foundation and the Whiting Foundation, and the research will result in a podcast and community-based archive for the Whose Land? project. The work done this summer will also support this fall’s class IMA 771: Community Media, Advocacy and the Urban Environment.
