IMA alumna Pam Sporn’s screening

As part of the Bronx Council on the Arts exhibit “Home is Where the Bronx Is,” the Longwood Arts Gallery will screen the documentary film CUBAN ROOTS/BRONX STORIES, directed by Pam Sporn. CUBAN ROOTS/BRONX STORIES follows the journey of one Black Cuban American family and explores the issues of migration, diaspora, home, and the political relations between the United States and Cuba.

IMA alumna Vandana Sood’s project

IMA alumna Vandana Sood’s project ‘The Taxi Takes On The World‘ will be an interactive online portal with user generated video content from taxis from around the globe. She will get a chance to launch a small chapter of this project at the next ISEA (International Symposium on Electronic Art) – Machine Wilderness in New Mexico where The Taxi Takes On The World has been accepted from 1500 submissions.

IMA student Alex Mallis’ film screening

IMA student Alex Mallis has two films playing this weekend at the Independent Film Festival of Boston. The first is a short documentary, Spoils: Extraordinary Harvest, a 20 minute film about dumpster diving. More info here: www.analectfilms.com/spoils

The second film, Welcome to Pine Hill, is a feature narrative/doc hybrid he worked on as the D.P. The film has won at Slamdance, Atlanta, Nashville, and Sarasota. More info on that film here: http://welcometopinehill.com/

Spoils will screen on Saturday at 2:30pm, and Pine Hill will screen on Sunday at 8pm – both at the Somerville Theatre in Cambridge.
