Poyen Wang is an artist and filmmaker born and raised in Taiwan, currently based in New York City. His recent work approaches image-making as a theatrical endeavor, staging psychologically charged scenes that explore intimacy, vulnerability, and power dynamics. Wang’s work has recently been presented at Asia Art Archive in America, Essex Flowers, Kasseler Kunstverein, Kasseler Dokfest, Wassaic Project, Kunstmuseum Bonn, the Bronx Museum of the Arts, and the Taipei Digital Art Center, among others. He has participated in residencies and received fellowships from 99 Canal, LMCC’s Manhattan Arts Grants, Triangle Arts Association, the AIM Fellowship, 18th Street Arts Center, and Flux Factory. He teaches in the Department of Film and Media at Hunter College in New York City.
