I’m Dr. Stella Safo, a Brooklyn based HIV primary care doc and public health practitioner; I’m also the co-founder and lead of the Green Book for Health (greenbookforhealth.org), a national initiative helping Black communities find safe, affirming healthcare, inspired by the original 1936 Negro Motorist Green Book.
We’re archiving our own story and looking for a film or journalism student (or small team) to help us capture it: following Victor Hugo Green’s life in Harlem, interviewing our founders and the people using the Green Book for Health today, and documenting our events.
Capturing Black and local voices feels especially important in the time we’re in. This is an NYC-based effort with impact across the country and I hoped to work with local trainees in the NY area.
Do you have a student who might want to take this on as a capstone project? Happy to connect and share more about this work.
