Custom Apparel Sampling, Prototyping, & Screen Printing Internship

The Brooklyn Press (www.thebrooklynpress.com) is a fast growing custom screen printing studio located on the border of the Bed-Stuy/Williamsburg neighborhoods in Brooklyn. We have over 10 years of industry experience and our work focuses on custom sampling, prototyping, and merchandise production of apparel, accessories, and paper goods. Our ethos is simple, PRINT, MAKE FRIENDS & REPEAT.

We are looking for a creative, motivated, and good-humored intern willing to be an integral part of its day-to-day operations. Areas of instruction and responsibility may include:

  • Garment handling & preparation
  • Artwork prep & graphic color separation
  • Pre-press prep/managment
  • Screen print Production
  • Ink prep & color-matching techniques
  • Heat transfer prep/production
  • Project management assistance
  • CRM (customer relationship management) & Data Entry
  • Help with Marketing Initiatives
  • Social media engagement, including blog postings
  • Other special projects

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a basic working understanding of the Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator/Photoshop skills preferred) interest in/understanding of social media (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, blog work, etc.), and the ability to engage with the marketing and creative staff of major retail and apparel clients — though first and foremost we want positive-minded people with good common sense.

Candidates must be currently enrolled at an accredited college or university. We will work with your college internship office for educational credit.

Candidates must be both willing and able to lift, push, and/or pull 25-50 pounds of material.

Miscellaneous

A minimum of 12-15 weeks is required. Longer internships may be available at the end of the initial period. Ideally, applicants should be available 2 days a week between 6 and 8 hrs/day. We’ll do our best to work with your schedule, though in order to offer you the most comprehensive hands-on education, we will need at least one full day per week.
