URGENT casting call: Oscar-Nominated Hunter Student-Director seeking talent (PAID)
Honey (60s-70s): A sensible and witty older woman. She’s got a maximalist aesthetic and wears lots of elaborate jewelry/fabrics. Honey is a funny, well-adjusted widow who loves being on her own and doing things on her own, even if she comes across as crass.
Age Range: ~48-85 years old.
Flat Rate: $100 / 5 hours
Filming: Monday May 18th – EVENING SHOOT (~7pm-12am in East Harlem NY)
About the project:
‘The Cancer’ – Casting a Dramaedy short, centering on two main characters: Ross & Claire. Claire’s romantic getaway gets spoiled after her boyfriend Ross betrays her trust, and he undergoes an animalistic transformation.
Director: Sam Fuentes is a filmmaker, screenwriter, and gun-violence prevention activist. Sam Fuentes is the Writer and subject of the 2024 Oscar-nominated short documentary Death by Numbers, directed by Kim Snyder. Death by Numbers won the Best Short Documentary Award at the 2024 Montclair Film Festival and the Audience Award at the 2025 Aspen Shortfest. She studied Film at Hunter College and is projected to graduate with a Bachelor of Arts in 2026. Though her origins in filmmaking are documentary, she intends to work in narrative filmmaking. In 2025, she served as the director of photography for the student short film Sins of the Father, directed by Dakota Lara. In her later works, Sam intends to rediscover whimsy and tell stories that stab.
