| An Evening Inspired by RUMIWith Music, Poetry, and Live Drawing The Wound Where Light Enters is a multidisciplinary performance inspired by the life and poetry of the 13th-century Persian mystic Jalal al-Din Rumi. Blending music, live drawing, dance, and theatrical storytelling, the evening brings to life Rumi’s encounters with Shams of Tabriz and Farid al-Din Attar, offering a powerful reflection on displacement, grief, resilience, and renewal. The program will also feature music by leading contemporary Persian composers, including Hossein Alizadeh’s beloved Ney Nava for ney and string ensemble.Get tickets Thursday, April 23, 7:00 PMThe Kaye Playhouse at Hunter CollegeEast 68th Street between Park and Lexington FEATURING Live Drawing by Kevork MouradMusical Performances by Farzad Amoozegar (setar); Shane Shanahan (percussion); Miranda Cuckson, Christine Wu, and Holly Workman (violins); Rubin Kodheli (cello); Milan Milisavljević (principal viola, Metropolitan Opera); Margaret Cox (bass); Eren Erdogan (kaval and ney); and Xheni Rroji (piano)Poetry Recitation by Deniz Khateri and Peter RomanoDance Performances by Richard Sayama and Chisato YanagisawaGet tickets Tickets: $33 (plus $6 venue convenience fee)FREE with CUNY ID at the Kaye Playhouse box officeFREE for all other students with code STUDENT26Group tickets: $25 for groups of 8+ with code RUMI26The Office of the Arts connects Hunter College students with transformational arts experiences, both on and off campus, and helps student artists build fulfilling, sustainable careers in the arts.
