About the CUNY Athletic Conference (More information can be found at cunyathletics.com)

The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) is an NCAA and NJCAA Division III conference with 15 members that reach across all five boroughs of New York City. Since officially coming into existence in 1987, the conference has been amongst the leaders in Division III with initiatives that focus on the student as much as the athlete in studentathlete. The conference sponsors 32 Conference Championships across 11 different sports, a slew of Intramural Championships, and several special events.

Benefits

NOTE: All internships are unpaid internships

●      Networking Opportunities  Interns can interact with entities that include but are not limited to conference members, national and regional organizations, and corporate entities. Interacting in this settingprovides invaluable opportunity to leverage the network for opportunities later on including job searches

●      Professional Experience, Professional Responsibility  Interns work on projects and tasks at a highlevel and are expected to take ownership of their tasks in a way that provides the truest realworld experience. (Coffee Running and Copying are not what we call “experience”)

●      Career Opportunities  Positions throughout the conference, its members, and affiliated organizations open up throughout the year. Interns have the inside track with relevant experience and a network that will give them the best chance at landing that position in sports. As an example, the CUNYAC office currently has seven interns working for the office in a parttime or fulltime capacity.

●      Skill Development  Skills are vital to employers. Whether they be in leadership, communications, organization, or technology, interns have the ability to build the skills that their future employersdesire.

●      Flexibility  At the Division III level, virtually every employee handles multiple roles. We use this approach for our interns. Interns may be hired for one area and decide to work within another at times. Similarly, our relationships with our members provides interns with the opportunity to intern at the campus level on certain days throughout their experience to experience what it’s like to work in an oncampusenvironment.
