I’m writing to share information about the Studio Track, a credit-bearing leadership pathway open to eligible CUNY students in approved degree programs [as GAME 31199 at City College, on epermit if applicable] in partnership with a local nonprofit, the EGD Collective. We are looking for students for AY 2026-2027 from a variety of majors interested in applying their skills to the games industry. If you’re wondering how students in your program might do that, this link has a long list of how students outside of the stereotypical art and computer science major are valued in this industry!
This program allows students to earn up to 18 credits while participating in a large-scale, 40+ member game development studio environment based at CCNY. Students work on large-scale projects for 1-3 years, receive support with internship and graduate school applications, portfolio reviews, up to $500 in fully funded trips, and access to additional select CCNY courses with reserved seats and waived prerequisites.
Ideal candidates have:
- Sophomore standing or higher (part-time and second-degree students welcome) with at least 2 semesters left.
- A minimum of 12 remaining electives (the flyer says 15 — 15 is ideal but 12 is fine!)
- One or more transferable foundational skills
Examples of relevant transferable skills include object-oriented programming in any language, research or data analysis, creative writing or technical writing, visual or spatial design, project management, or operations management. Many humanities, math/science, and business-related majors enter successfully with strengths in research, writing, analysis, organization, or leadership. Language majors often focus on translation and localization.
I’ve attached a flyer outlining eligibility, structure, and deadlines. Motivated students without enough free electives or recent graduates who are interested in the program can pursue these awards through a noncredit pathway.
