We are thrilled to share some exciting news with you: applications for our CUNY Cultural Corps 2023-2024 cohort have briefly reopened, and we are now accepting a limited number of students into the program. The CUNY Cultural Corps program provides paid internships at cultural arts organizations for CUNY students.
The program was started in collaboration with The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs as an effort to foster diversity and equity in NYC’s cultural sector. Please read below for more details on the program, the application link, and next steps.
Program Information
Through the Cultural Corps program, CUNY students can obtain internship positions at various +cultural institutions. Please review the positions currently available through this extension, before submitting your application: 2023 Student Application Extension- Available Positions Overview
After undergoing an application screening, an interview process, and receiving their placement, students work between 10-12 hours a week throughout the fall and spring semesters and are paid $18 an hour. In addition, students receive a series of career workshops meant to further their professional development in the field.
Program Eligibility
To be eligible to apply, you must:
- Be currently enrolled at any CUNY college, working towards a degree (Community College, Senior College, or Graduate School).
- Be registered for at least 12 credits (for undergraduate freshmen, sophomores, and juniors) or 6 credits (if you are a rising senior) while enrolled in the program.
- Have a cumulative Grade Point Average of at least 2.5.
- Have earned at least 24 college credits by the end of the Summer (12 college credits for community college students).

What to Expect of the Selection Process
- Submit your application here by Friday, September 22nd, 2023.
- We strongly encourage students to submit their resumes.
- Sometime in October 2023, the Cultural Corps Team will contact you to inform you if your application is selected to move on to the next step. If selected, you will be prompted to RSVP to a Group Orientation.
- After the Group Orientation you will be required to review important resources, we will share with you. You will then:
- Confirm you have reviewed the resources
- State your willingness to follow through with the program expectations and requirements.
- Submit proof of eligibility.
- Submit your professional references, which we will be contacting.
- If all requirements are met and you continue to the next stage, you will be interviewed by some organizations and matched to one.
- Selected students are onboarded into the CUNY Cultural Corps 2023-2024 cohort.
- Students who meet our requirements and cannot be successfully matched to an organization are placed on a waitlist to possibly join this cohort later in the year.
