Subject: New York Film Critics Circle (NYFCC) Student Award 2025 — NOW OPEN FOR SUBMISSIONS
To: Keith Uhlich <keithuhlich@gmail.com>
Greetings!
My name is Keith Uhlich, NYC-based film critic and member of the New York Film Critics Circle. Reaching out to let you know that the annual student prize, which I oversee, is now open for submissions.
All relevant information can be found at this link: https://www.nyfcc.com/awards/#student
In summary: Every year, we offer two prizes of $2,500 each to both an undergraduate student and a graduate student from any university in the state of New York. By the deadline of Monday, November 17th, applicants should submit two reviews, one for a film from the current calendar year (2025), one for a film from before 1980. Word count of 500-800 words per piece. I and several of my colleagues will read through the entries and choose the two best. Winners will receive the cash prize in the form of a check, along with an awards scroll and two tickets to our annual gala, to be held this year on Tuesday, January 6th at TAO Downtown in Manhattan.
Please let your student body know about the prize, and direct all questions and entries to me, Keith Uhlich, at keithuhlich@gmail.com
I will send reminders every one to two weeks about the student prize. We’d love to get as many entries as possible.
Thank you very much for your assistance, and hope you are having a wonderful fall semester.
