Documentary Internship- Post Production & Research

 

Seeking intern to work on a feature-length independent documentary film titled ASK THE SEXPERT. The film profiles a 92-year-old sex advice columnist who gains popularity against the backdrop of a ban on comprehensive sex-education in schools in several states in India.

 

The film is directed by Vaishali Sinha who’s prior film MADE IN INDIA (about the personal stories behind the phenomenon of “outsourcing” surrogates to India) premiered as a festival favorite at Hot Docs Film Festival, aired on PBS in 2012, and is currently a case study at Harvard Business School for their class on ethics.
After 3 years in the making, ASK THE SEXPERT is in its final stretch to be completed by summer 2017 and is expected to release theatrically and to air on PBS.

 

Intern will work in the Brooklyn office alongside director & editor. Primary tasks will involve research, logging video footage, creating cue sheets and other television deliverables, and organizing archival footage and elements for our editorial team. Ideal candidates would have an arts and film background, strong organizational and research skills, and be willing to complete a variety of tasks including archival and print research, tape logging, occasional office jobs and making deliveries.  Adobe Premiere skills would be a plus.

 

Applicants will have the opportunity to develop assistant editing skills and to work with seasoned producers and editors over the next few months.  Applicants should be detail-oriented, consistent with follow-through and should be able to work independently.

DATES: Hiring January/ February until summer 2017. We ask that our interns commit at least 2-3 days a week for at least 3 months.
