Dear arts faculty,

I wanted to make sure you know about an event the Office of the Arts is organizing January 26, as a follow up to the working class artists forum we hosted at Hunter May 1. This will be a town hall style event at Danspace in the East Village, where artists are invited to share their ideas for making NYC a more equitable arts ecosystem. We have a few hundred people signed up—a mix of artists, arts organizations, and some government officials, including the current NYC Cultural Commissioner.

This is the first day of classes, so I know many of you will be busy, but you can come and go anytime from 4 to 7. I hope you’ll come and share this with your students and colleagues.

We the People: An Assembly of New York Artists
The Hunter College Office of the Arts invites all New York artists and arts workers to speak out at this public event, to share their ideas for creating a more equitable and vibrant arts landscape in New York City and State.

Monday, January 26, 2026, 4-7 pm
Danspace Project, St. Mark’s Church in-the-Bowery

131 East 10th Street at Second Avenue
