Hello,
My name is Mark Wishnia and I am the Manager of Communications for StreetSquash, a nonprofit in Harlem that has been serving the area for over 25 years. StreetSquash is a multi-year enrichment program dedicated to guiding young people aged 11-24 towards their full potential. The program strategically combines rigorous academic support, college readiness, vital social work services, and high-level squash instruction. By actively engaging caregivers, families, and strategic partners, we leverage a student’s entire community to achieve whole-child development. This holistic approach ensures participants develop critical life skills and access a sustained pathway to higher education and meaningful careers.
I am contacting you because our organization has been in need of an updated general marketing video for quite some time but it’s consistently left out of budget considerations. The last time we did a video was in 2019 for our 20th anniversary but we’ve undergone many changes in those short five years including getting a new Executive Director following the retirement of our original founder and Executive Director.
I was wondering if maybe it would be worthwhile to try and have a video/film student (or a group of them) work on creating a new promotional video for us. It would give the students great experience and allow them to have a video for their portfolio as they start their careers. And for us, we’d have a new promotional video. I imagine your curriculum is already all set for the semester, but perhaps it’s something you could do for the Spring semester or another time you see fit.
Alternatively, if you know of any recent graduates that might be willing to take on this project to build their portfolio for free or a heavily discounted rate, please let me know.
If you wanted to go all-in on something like this and have multiple student groups work on this, our program has four main components (academics, college access, squash & mental health) and a separate video could in theory be made for each department in addition to having a video that talks about the program as a whole.
If you’re willing to discuss further, please let me know. Any help you may be able to provide is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,MARK WISHNIAManager of Communications
