VIDEO INTERNSHIP
Description
We are seeking a talented, creative self-starter for a three-semester (Sp, Summer and Fall, 2025) Video Internship at sexgenlab.org. SGL Presents is our video series in which top scholars break down their big ideas and expertise in critical gender and sexuality research and scholarship in short videos (3-5 minutes). SGL Presents videos are distributed via sexgenlab.org, Twitter, YouTube, and other social media platforms. The intern will report to the Project Director and will collaborate closely with the broader intern team to participate in the organization’s new and ongoing initiatives on digital and social media platforms. The intern will work 5-8 hours per week and will post on social media multiple times per day. Interns gain experience in conceptualizing, researching, producing and disseminating documentary-style videos. Compensation can be a stipend of up to $1000 or course credit.
Requirements
The intern should have proven skills in the basics of video production and editing, specifically, with Final Cut Pro X, Adobe Premiere Pro, or iMovie. Knowledge of Photoshop is a plus. Written and oral communication skills, as well as creative problem solving are important. The intern should be able to interact professionally with people from diverse backgrounds. Of prime importance are organizational skills, and a willingness to take on any necessary task whether creative or mundane.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist with remote video shoots
Take primary responsibility for the development and editing of video content in post-production
Research content, music, photographs, etc. related to production.
Research digital video and audience trends
Compile and analyze data analytics on the six (6) national TSM (top social media) brands to monitor video performance on YouTube and other social platforms
Assist with outreach and ongoing contact with professionals in videos
Assist with other tasks assigned by the Project Director as necessary
