Description: Are you passionate about film and looking for hands-on experience working with professional-grade equipment? The Hunter College Department of Film and Media Resource Room is seeking enthusiastic College Assistants to join our equipment room team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain practical skills and build your knowledge of film production equipment, including video, sound, lighting, and grip gear.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with the daily operations of the equipment room.
- Learn how to set up, operate, and maintain film equipment (cameras, sound gear, lighting, grip, etc.).
- Check equipment in and out to students and faculty.
- Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and minor repairs on gear.
- Help organize and maintain inventory.
- Provide support to students and faculty with equipment questions and setups.
What You’ll Learn:
- Hands-on operation of professional film and video equipment.
- Best practices for handling and maintaining audio, lighting, and grip gear.
- How to troubleshoot common technical issues in production.
- Organizational skills for managing large-scale equipment inventory.
Qualifications:
- Interest in film production and a willingness to learn.
- Basic understanding of film equipment is a plus but not required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
