O\u2019Beirne critiqued b-roll students shot around campus and offered some useful tips, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Avoid pans and tilts; instead let the action come through the frame.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Overcome your discomfort with being in people\u2019s space. Get intimate!<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shoot during the \u201cmagic hour,\u201d which is actually <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">twice<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> a day \u2014 during dawn and dusk, when natural light is golden and soft<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When shooting b-roll, set one audio channel to auto and the other to manual.
