For Hunter Journalism instructor Adam Glenn, it was a stroke of luck that he found himself teaching his first Media Ethics and the Law<\/a> course in Fall 2020 just as he also prepared to join the staff of the renowned Knight First Amendment Institute<\/a> at Columbia University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Knight Institute, perhaps best known for its First Amendment lawsuit<\/a> against then-President Trump, Glenn was quickly able to apply the insights he had gained into free speech and press law to the work of the organization, whether writing blogs about its high-impact litigation or editing cutting-edge research essays.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That connection between his teaching and journalistic work has long served Glenn. For instance, his work as a veteran digital journalist at ABCNews.com is directly applicable to MEDPL 297: Online Journalism, the course he\u2019s teaching this fall. Later in the semester, he  and his students hope to launch live coverage showcasing student work on the key role of women in New York\u2019s future. And next spring, Glenn will once again teach MEDP 399: Urban, Health and Environmental Reporting,<\/a> the course he launched in Spring 2020, while he continues his decade-long post as editor of a weekly online newsmagazine for environmental journalists<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
