So while I know making mistakes and learning are all part of the process of becoming a professional journalist, sometimes repeating myself in Google doc comments feels like shouting at the rain. Can anyone hear me when I tell them to \u201cStick with said.\u201d for the attribution or \u201cDon\u2019t lead with background.\u201d?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During one particularly frustrating day of editing first drafts for teen-written, \u201cThe Future is Ms.\u201d Column I produce for Ms. Magazine, I decided that if I tweeted out my comments, maybe a young writer would see it and save some other editor a gray hair or two.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"658\" height=\"296\" src=\"https:\/\/fm.hunter.cuny.edu\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/twitter2Picture1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5755\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fm.hunter.cuny.edu\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/twitter2Picture1.png 658w, https:\/\/fm.hunter.cuny.edu\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/twitter2Picture1-300x135.png 300w, https:\/\/fm.hunter.cuny.edu\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/twitter2Picture1-380x171.png 380w, https:\/\/fm.hunter.cuny.edu\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/twitter2Picture1-576x259.png 576w, https:\/\/fm.hunter.cuny.edu\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/twitter2Picture1-165x74.png 165w, https:\/\/fm.hunter.cuny.edu\/journalism\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/10\/twitter2Picture1-372x167.png 372w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 658px) 100vw, 658px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>One hundred and fifty posts later, those \u201cDear Teen Journalist\u201d tweets took on a life of their own. The goal is always to educate and provide writing advice to young reporters. Based on the feedback, there seem to be many journalism teachers and professors who also find value (and validation) from my posts. Instead I see it as a challenge to rephrase my message and produce more journalism tips for social media.
