Greetings everyone! <\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n

As we\u2019re sure all members of the Hunter Journalism community know by now, starting on March 19 Hunter College will join other CUNY and SUNY schools in moving to distance education for the remainder of the semester. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While distance learning has a good track record, for many of us this will likely be a very new and challenging experience. Everyone will have to be patient and disciplined to get our work done well and on time. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

But we want you to know that the journalism faculty is committed to helping you finish your courses and achieving your course learning outcomes. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We\u2019ve already been hard at work in the last 24 hours in developing plans for our program\u2019s switch to distance learning. And we\u2019ll be meeting (virtually) with all journalism faculty members late afternoon Friday to finalize plans to make sure we provide you high-quality remote instruction. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Expect to hear from your instructors early next week prior to the resumption of classes on March 19 about their plans.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

And remember that we will continue journalism advising \u2014 just reach out to us by email.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meanwhile, a reminder that all Hunter College campuses will stay open and that operations will go on through this entire period to provide additional access to technology and space for students to study. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

That includes the equipment room, student advising, the cafeteria, athletic facilities, the library, computer labs, student union, the AccessABILITY office, Human Resources, ICIT and other spaces on campus.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bottom line: The school \u2014 and all of us in the journalism faculty \u2014 are committed to protecting everyone\u2019s health and safety, but also the program\u2019s academic continuity and students\u2019 ability to finish their semester.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Take precautions to ensure your safety and wellbeing, watch for updates from the school and the journalism faculty in the coming days and keep an eye out for updates by visiting the Hunter <\/a>website<\/a> and CUNY\u2019s Coronavirus<\/a> Update <\/a>web page.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
