Amy Russo, a 2017 graduate of the Hunter Journalism Program, this month is joining NBCUniversal<\/a> as an associate producer with Quibi<\/a>, a mobile streaming service set to launch in April.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The app, an abbreviation meaning \u201cquick bites,\u201d will give users short-form shows and movies featuring big names like Chrissy Teigen and Idris Elba.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quibi will also offer regular news programming to give viewers a snapshot of the day\u2019s happenings in mere minutes.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

That\u2019s where Russo\u2019s role comes in. As part of the news team, she\u2019ll be helping to pitch stories and write scripts that make up Quibi’s shows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m thrilled to be jumping into a new venture with talented colleagues,\u201d Russo said. \u201cAnd I am confident Quibi has tapped into the future of news and entertainment.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Russo had previously gained attention for a 2017 Pulitzer Center fellowship<\/a> that took her to Sweden to report on refugee children there, reporting that was later published in Foreign Affairs<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
