The 10-week Fellowship<\/a> begins at Google\u2019s World Headquarters in Mountain View, CA. After a few days at the Googleplex, Fellows will spend the next 9 weeks embedded on projects at one of the following host organizations: Propublica, IRE, Neiman Lab, Poynter, Pew Research Center. Matter, Reveal (the Center for Investigative Reporting), Witness Media Lab.<\/p>\n Application opens Nov. 1 We’re looking for students (enrolled as of Jan. 1, 2018) who are passionate about reporting and the role that technology can play in the pursuit of the craft. You must be a US student or a student studying in the US with a relevant visa to qualify. That said, we welcome students from all majors and degree programs. If the following sounds like you, we encourage you to apply:<\/p>\n You\u2019re excited about journalism, especially data driven journalism or freedom of expression online. You\u2019re interested in exploring and creating business models to help the industry in the digital age.<\/p>\n You have an excellent academic record, and a few activities that show you\u2019re engaged outside of school. You think analytically and have a knack for research, writing, and communication. You\u2019re a master multitasker who works quickly, smartly, and resourcefully. Experience with a web programming language like HTML or Javascript and spreadsheet software gives you an edge.<\/p>\n Fellows receive a stipend of $9,000 USD and a travel budget of $1,000 during the 10-week program, which runs from June-August.<\/p>\n June through August<\/p>\n At one of eight news organizations around the country.<\/p>\n Applications must go directly to one of the host news organizations (click on the logo of the organization at the link below), though students may apply to multiple organizations.
