All of them are paid positions. Some of these fellowships are offered only occasionally, others are recurring. Because our fellowships do not always have a fixed end date, there is no regular schedule, but we do keep this page updated with the current status of all of our fellowships.<br \/>\nhttps:\/\/www.propublica.org\/about\/fellowships\/<\/p>\n<p>One of our missions is to bring journalists from a broad array of social, ethnic, and economic backgrounds into journalism, including African Americans, Latinos, other people of color, women, LGBTQ people, and people with disabilities. We are committed to diversity and especially encourage members of underrepresented communities to apply.<\/p>\n<p>Even if no fellowships are open at the moment, we are always looking for potential candidates. If you think you\u2019d be a great fit for one of these positions, we encourage you to email us at fellowships@propublica.org.<\/p>\n<h4>Senior Reporting Fellow<\/h4>\n<p>This position is for a recent college or journalism school graduate to work in our newsroom in New York City. Reporting fellows at ProPublica have gone on to work at The New York Times, Bloomberg, Politico, NPR, the Center for Public Integrity and the Chicago Tribune.<\/p>\n<h4>Reporting Fellow<\/h4>\n<p>This fellowship is for somebody who has done reporting, and loves doing it. Fellows primarily report their own stories \u2014 like this one \u2014 but also collaborate with ProPublica\u2019s reporters on big projects. Reporting fellows at ProPublica have gone on to work at The New York Times, Bloomberg, Politico, NPR, the Center for Public Integrity and the Chicago Tribune.<\/p>\n<h4>Design Fellow<\/h4>\n<p>This fellowship is geared for creative, ambitious designers who want to work in and learn from the daily workings of an active newsroom. They must demonstrate an aptitude for and curiosity about at least two of the following: interactive design, user experience, and editorial design. This is a great fellowship for a design student interested in working on journalistic projects, or working interactive designers looking to transition into the field.<\/p>\n<h4>Data Fellow<\/h4>\n<p>This fellowship is aimed at curious, detail-oriented journalists proficient in statistics, or students of quantitative fields (statistics, computer science, etc.) with an interest in journalism. Fellows will work with our News Application and Data team, assisting with data preparation and statistical analysis. Former fellows in the department have gone on to work at The New York Times, Center for Public Integrity and the Center for Investigative Reporting.<\/p>\n<h4>News Applications Fellow<\/h4>\n<p>This fellowship is for somebody interested in the intersection of data, design, coding and journalism. Fellows will work with our News Applications and Data team, building large-scale interactive databases (we call them \u201cnews applications\u201d) and short-turnaround interactive dataviz for stories. The team maintains a blog at propublica.org\/nerds. See the team\u2019s projects here.<\/p>\n<h4>Research Fellow<\/h4>\n<p>This fellowship is for somebody who has experience with or a strong enthusiasm for public records, databases such as LexisNexis and Pacer, and FOIA requests. The ideal candidate has a meticulous attention to detail, a passion for digging, and strong reporting skills.
