Hunter College journalism graduate Chelsea Narvaez has won an Emmy for her work on the CBS News primetime documentary, 39 Days<\/a><\/em>.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narvaez was a production assistant on the weekly news program 48 Hours<\/a> on the day a former Marjory Stoneman Douglas student shot and killed 17 people in Parkland, Fla.  
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As the story unfolded, the 48 Hours team and other CBS journalists decided to profile the students who banded together to do something, chronicling a movement that culminated in the nationwide \u201cMarch for Our Lives\u201d 39 days later.
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Narvaez said they worked around the clock on the documentary.<\/em> 
<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI\u2019m truly in awe of what we managed to put together in such a short amount of time,\u201d Narvaez said. \u201cWhen it aired, we cried, feeling the weight of the awful tragedy that occurred, wishing we never had to make this documentary but feeling pride in telling the victims\u2019 stories and the stories of their friends and family as best we could.\u201d

In addition to the Emmy for Outstanding News Special<\/a>, 39 Days<\/em> received an Edward R. Murrow award for Best News Documentary<\/a> in June.
